We purchased this pretty little rust-free example in June 2022 and used it for ourselves during sunny weather along with a comprehensive program of servicing and improvements.
The car is very solid and has excellent body panels and no known rust underneath. The superb structural condition helped us to decide to buy it as it doesn’t appear to ever have had any welding under neath. We were told when we purchased it that, it had some light cosmetic cat d damage way back in 2005, however we see no signs of this. In the last few years, there are invoices on file confirming over £8000 worth of work carried out to a good standard.
2020 onwards in our ownership:
Replacement:
rear window panel and vinyl,
2 x new front bumper corners,
fitted luggage rack and basket,
bonnet catch,
4 x logo mudflaps,
4 x over-mats,
new battery,
cam belt.
Refurbished: Both front leather seats.
Full service including clean and rustproof underside, roof drains cleaned out and checked, boot drains cleaned out and checked, full valet and many other smaller details. Total cost of these works £4,000 We have owned and refurbished quite a few Figaro’s over the years, so therefore we know our way around these lovely little cars, and it’s a pleasure to come across one that isn’t falling apart with rust.
After some use we sold it onwards to the next owner who loved the car, keeping it for a little while, whilst also lavishing improvements on to it.
From the history file is shows that the following works were also carried out between May and August 2022:
Vehicle health check,
Replace brake pipe.
Wheel alignment.
Replace steering rack boot.
Replace exhaust mountings and gaskets.
New rear exhaust box.
Diagnostic tune up.
Replace head gasket and timing belt.
Change coolant.
Change oil and filter.
Install new immobiliser.
Install new stereo (Bluetooth etc).
Install speedo drive.
Adjust V belt.
Total for these works £4,056 all invoices on file. May 22 to date).
There is a substantial history folder, containing MOT history, many invoices for service, repairs, and upgrades, sundry documents.
MOT’d with no advisories until 21.5 2024.
This car is very solid and reliable, runs and drives really well and is great fun, whilst also being an investment, as these popular retro classics have a big enthusiastic following, with many owners’ groups and specialists on hand to keep the owners on the road and smiling.
