History.

Built to an excellent standard by a very enthusiastic private individual over several years, as a labour of love, 1995 – 2002 approx.

Donor car was a 1979 Ford Cortina MK4 which the builder purchased virtually new (Invoice on file).

The engine was fully rebuilt and uprated shortly before the car was built but has still travelled very nominal mileage since.

All old MOT’s for donor and Cobra on file.

The builder enjoyed the project but only used the car very infrequently in his 20 years or so with it.

All build documentation is on file, including Pilgrim brochures, manuals etc. DVLA registration details, V5, old MOT’s.   Large file of parts invoices, along with correspondence and invoices from Pilgrim sports-cars.

Condition.

The overall condition of both body and paint is nothing short of superb.

Additional stone chip/similar protection was applied to the underside of the 4 wings when it was painted, giving lots of protection to the inner panels from stone chipping which is one of the major causes of star cracking to fibreglass cars.

This car has no obvious or visible body or paint defects in respect of paint finish, stone chips, star cracks, crazing or ripples. It gives the appearance of being only a few years old and still presents superbly with excellent body panel alignment.

The wheels are unmarked, deep tread on tyres, chrome, and trim near perfect.

All the weather equipment is like new, overall, in similar condition to many Cobra’s at twice the price!

Performance / driving.

Runs and drives really well with a lovely throaty exhaust note. Light and nimble to drive with excellent performance, economical too!  Performance wise only a very short tailpipe behind a Rover 3.5 engined example we recently sold.

The lightweight 4-cylinder engine makes the car light for great performance and very easy to drive handling.

General.

Never been raced or used on a track day, no crashes, fully HPI clear and all clear certificate is on file. Current red V5, mot until 18.8.2023, taxation class ‘Historic’ free road tax, big build and history file.

This is a great fun, enthusiasts car, fast, noisy, and looks significantly more expensive than it actually is!

Cheap classic car insurance, plentiful parts and specialists.
